A Nymph in the Well

There is a village Padmapur under Sanokhemundi block in Ganjam Dist. , Odisha. The village Padmapur is scenically n strategically located on the foot hills of  Sulia 🏔️  mountain ranges. The village is surrounded by tall coconut trees , mango 🥭 grooves , palm 🌴 , tamarind, wood apple , kadam trees etc.  The population of the village is around 2700 with 75 house holds with four streets . In the middle center of the village Padmapur sits the Kaleemata temple, the presiding deity and to the far east Shree Shree Neelakantheswar temple is located.

Yes, there is a big circular well on the back side of the main street . People fondly call the well ,as " Kadam Kuan " - surrounded by   round shaped  flowery  Kadam trees. The water of this well remains  clear , clean ,cool n cold . The entire village depends on this only well for their drinking water needs n other house hold chores.

In course of time , the water of the well became murky, filthy ,  muddy - unsafe  for drinking,even for cooking or bathing . Added to that, at times  , the village kids dropped  twigs, broken pot pieces ,sticks out of fun. The water got polluted .

But to the good fortune of the village , there lived an educated young boy of 18 years , pursing +3 Science in a near by college. He is Bimal . Bimal is a courteous chap , never sitting idle - doing something or other. Bimal has a good sense of humour and mingles with villagers easily .And that's why , people of Padmapur village liked Bimal - the most .

Bimal noticed the plight of the " Kadam Kuan" . He planned to clean the water of the well , but couldn't do it alone. He approached some people - said that it's high time to clean the polluted water of the well . But the said people avoided Bimal - saying that they are pre- occupied and have other works of their own.

But Bimal was determined . He thought of a nice idea to clean n drain out the polluted water by the support of Padmapur villagers only. So, the next day morning , Bimal went near the well & looked in to the well interestingly . Some passer by villagers ,at first, took notice of Bimal's amusement peeping in to the well and asked what he was looking for ? Soon , other villagers assembled and crowded near the well . People from the crowd enquired Bimal repeatedly - what he was observing inside the well for pretty long time .

Then , Bimal told to the people -" Oh ! Good God ! Lo ! I saw a Nymph playing cheerfully in the deep water of the well ." But we are not able to see the Nymph - a chorus voice came from the crowd .

Bimal, not losing a moment, said instantly - " Believe me , I saw  in my own eyes , the Nymph playing underneath the water. The Nymph might have stuck to the ground water, noticing our presence . " 

Bimal  then requested people - " Let us all drain the water , so that we can all have a live vision of the Nymph ." The crowd agreed enthusiastically and some villagers , including ladies readily brought buckets, mugs , ropes and started draining the polluted water , filthy muddy sediments out of the well. After couple of hours , the well was cleaned up . The impatient villagers asked Bimal - " Where is the Nymph now ? "...

A refreshed Bimal , beaming with smiles told the crowd - " Please wait for  a little moment , for half an hour more, the Nymph would emerge from the ground water."

After passing half an hour , the crowd complained and asked Bimal to show the Nymph. Then, a beaming Bimal said -" Lo ! here is the Nymph, I was talking about - pointing  towards the fresh water ." - that was emerging from the ground level of the well.

Then the crowded villagers realised what Bimal meant saying the Nymph in the Well - all fresh water...

The villagers appreciated n praised the cleverness working style of Bimal to make the well clean and safe for drinking water.

A beaming Bimal too thanked the villagres for their united noble works.

When one utters the word Maa - the Mother , one feels secure ; secure from any imminent or approaching obstacles, danger situations.

The 2nd Sunday of May has been observed as the Mother's Day across the World in many countries . This year 2nd Sunday of May falls on 08 th May ,2022.

The American Activist Anna Jarvis has been regarded as the founder of Mother's Day in America. At her initiatives , Mother's Day was first celebrated on 10 May , 1908 in Grafton , West Virginia.  

Mother is the Store House of all virtues, all good qualities- be it kindness, humbleness, empathetic, sympathetic, loyalty, loving, caring, sharing , hard work, workaholic, patience, tolerance , softness, fondness , tenderness etc.

You name any good quality or virtue , a Mother possesses all the same.

Friends ! I had penned a Blog on Mother - entitled as  " Maa ,Mother : the most precious , potent , pious word across the World " on   18 April ,2022 . I implore all of you to peruse the same.

Oh , April ! Oh , May !! Oh , June !!!

You all are hot , sunny surroundings -

All sweating , all heating and fire spitting -

Climate get heat n hot - gradually , increasingly -

Till the moody Monsoon Breaks...                                                       

Summer seeks cool -cold - chilled drinks ,

Be it fruit juice or instant artificial beverages ,

Some prefer ice- creams , sharbat , lassi, ripe fruits pulp punch ,

People take watery food,  pakhaala ,  leafy vegetable curry ,

And no no to spicy hot fried fast foods .....

All prefer outings in the early morning & late evening -

Dawn , Dusk & Night hours ;

Water bodies , tanks, river beds , sea shores , mango orchards, open spaces ,

Farm houses , Play grounds , open air auditorium sites become much sought after ...

Summer demands -

Air Conditioners , Fans, Water Coolers -

Dark spectacles , Leisure wears & light feathered relaxing foot wears ;

So , these commodities become most wanted n essentials ...

Oh , my Pals -

No to Noon , No to Angry Sun -

Use Umbrella , Drink sip Water n hydrate often-

Put on cotton clothes , Sport Dark Glasses , Foot fall with light Sandals -

And these are the sure preventive ways to avoid the Heat Wave , Sun Stroke pains -

Save the precious Life during the scorching  Summer Season ...

Oh , my Dear Friends !

Don't be Hot , Be Cool - in each n every venture ,

Always remain Cool like the Moon ...

Is this the great teaching of Summer Season ?

Maa , Mother : the most precious, potent , pious word across the World

         Maa , Mother : the most precious, pious word across the World

                                                         The utterance of the very word "Maa" - the Mother - makes us feel protected from any danger ; builds up a great wall of added security shield. "Maa" fills the body with lots of love and affection ; trances the mind with pure ,pious, positive thoughts and ecstasies joyfulness  ; imbibes the spirit with complete devotion, peaceful prosperities. 

When we face any danger ,  suddenly n spontaneously  - we utter the word Maa to protect us. And , Lo! the divine hidden power of Mother protect us n our imminent danger situations swept away . You must have experienced such situations in your day to day  life. Isn't it ? So , in the event of any imminent danger situation , the powerful word ''Maa" crop up to our minds instantly and  protect us from the dangerous situations.

Friends !  We have read the puranic stories on the affections n attachments , deep love n likings of Maa Parvati for Ganesh ; the instant vigilant care n nourishment of Maa Yashoda for the little master Krushna ; Maa Sita's love for her twin off springs Luv n Kusha   and so on .

In every faith - Mother has been given the highest regards , the upper most echelon. Mother has been revered, respected ,regarded ,worshipped, praised . In our Hindu faith , we respect the mother as the living Goddess - the divine entity. In Nepal ,''Mata Tirtha Aunshi" , i.e.  Mother Pilgrimage Fortnight has been observed every year on Vaishakh  Amavasya . Buddhist communities observe  ''Ullambana" to pay homage to the mother community. The Quran teaches that children  should give priority to love their Mothers. In Churches , the Christians pray Mother Virgin Mary and so on .

Adi Shankaracharya had has tremendous love n regards to the Mother community . At some instances , a father may be rude ; a  brother may deceive ; a son may betray  - but a Mother can  never ever become bad or evil to her off springs.

We in India too pay respect to the women spiritual masters like Sri Maa,  Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), Jaya Kishori Devi , Mother Teresa ... 

We celebrate the Mother's Day on every 2nd Sunday of May each year . The American activist  Anna Jarvis has been regarded as the founder of  Mother's Day in USA. At her initiatives , the first official Mother's Day was celebrated on the 10th May ,1908 in Grafton, West Virginia.

Friends ! Mother is the epitome , store house of all the good qualities , virtues created by the Almighty . She represents hard work, labor, toil , patience, compassion, kindness , humbleness , empathetic, sympathetic , loyalty , loving n caring , affection n attachment , a rare sense of belongingness for the off springs, and other family members too.

Words can not completely narrate the many facets of the Mother ; yet in parts n parcels -  we submit herewith the English rendering of a Sanskrit verse - eulogizing the virtues of a Mother .

" A charming face , a heart full of compassion , whose speech is like Amrut ( nectar ) and who always extends a helping hand to the needy...such a motherly person is always the most revered one. "

Yes, Friends! My mother Hemalata Devi succumbed to death on the operation theatre , while treatments were going on to cure her cancer ailments in the MKCG Medical Hospital n College , Berhampur , Ganjam , Odisha on 30 June 1978. That was the most unfortunate day in our family lives. I felt that everything was lost.  I was a living corpse. There were big vacuums all around . The book written by Swami Sivananda - '' The Life after Death " solaced my  soul ; As times passed by - I learnt to live again - remembering the love , care , affection , good teachings of my Mother , when she was alive . 

Now , Friends! Am going to tell you on an immortal MAA SONG ,  I came across on 29 Nov. 2016 - while scrolling You Tube videos . That immortal song was : " Puja hai Tujhko Pujenge Hardum ..." The lyrics was by the famous singer performer Devyani Karve Kothari ; sponsored by late Ratanben Mohanlalji Mehta of Desuri of Puna . And the Singer was Vicky D Parekh ...

Friends ! I was so greatly impressed by this song on "Mother" that on the very day  of  29th Nov.2016 , I forwarded the video to my thousands of friends , relatives ,colleagues n strangers too. The superb song was well sung with lilting music by the great in born devotional singer Vicky . I would give millions of Stars Likings n Rankings to the composer , singer n the team for presenting us - such an immortal, ever green , unforgettable, meaningful, devotional master piece song on Mother. Everyday , I  start my day , by listening to this song - remembering my Mother and the Divine Mothers too. I feel the very presence of my departed Mother by my side, whenever I murmur  the song in my mind ,listen to or watch the video.

 Friends! I have been immensely impressed n moved by the  Mother Stories , Melodious Devotional Music n Songs... I wish all of us pay respect to our Mothers , our rich Indian culture on Mother Worships , Bhajan Songs that steer our souls , give strengths to us and pacify our minds with soothing, scintillating ,serene musical notes...

Friends ! I came across a well said quote of Madhusudan Rao , the noted devotional poet - Bhakta Kabi of Odisha yesterday( on dated 09 April ,2022 - the SAMAJA ,Odia daily- Editorial Page No.06)

I can put the inner meaning , the message of the said Odia verse penned by Madhusudan Rao - this way , more appropriately - exactly - as for as I can able to narrate , present before my valued Readers.

" If you wish to achieve success in your Life , then with a vigorous , serious single mindedness - concentrate , focus on the goal in an appropriate planned manner . Carryout your activities with apt attention- dexterity , and go ahead skillfully ."

These puritan immortal words  of our revered Devotional Poet Madhusudan Rao , in the said Odia verse , has have the hidden treasure of knowledge and wisdom . The said verse narrates the potentiality of a concentrated , controlled mind  - which can facilitate to achieve the desired goal .

The poet has emphasized to carry out the work in a skillful way , so that the assigned work can be completed on time.

So , Friends - please be careful in your Life ; lead & live a meaningful Life.  We can say that the intelligent woman/ man  lived her/his life in full ; in other way to put it simply - we can say that S/he  lived in FULL LIFE.
